- 1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 3 teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 3 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup low sodium beef broth
- 2 (28 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup tomato paste
- ⅓ cup fresh chopped parsley
- Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- Add the onion, carrot and garlic to a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. If you don’t have a food processor you can chop by hand. Set aside.
- In the bottom of the slow cooker add the ground beef, salt, pepper, oregano thyme, cinnamon, beef broth, crushed tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste and chopped veggies.
- Give a stir, then cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-4 hours. Break up the meat before serving, stir in fresh, chopped parsley and serve over pasta with parmesan cheese.
