Description

Don’t let this cut of beef intimidate you! My simple guide to grilling filet mignon provides easy-to-follow instructions for cooking this delicious cut of steak perfectly in minutes. The key to success? Let the meat rest. This results in a perfectly juicy, tender filet mignon with a slightly smoky flavor from the grill.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (8oz) filet mignon
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Prior to grilling, take the filet out of the fridge and let it come to room temperature for 30-45 minutes. Preheat your grill to 400 degrees over medium/high heat.
  2. Mix together the salt and pepper and sprinkle all sides of the filet with the mixture, pressing the spices into the meat. You don’t have to use all of the salt and pepper, just enough to lightly and evenly coat the filet.
  3. Spray your grill before adding the filet. Cook for 6-7 minutes on each side for medium rare. If your filet is very thick it might need a couple more minutes per side. Remove and let sit for 5 minutes before cutting.
