Spinach & Apple Detox Smoothie

a green smoothie in a glass mason jar with a straw

Spinach Apple Detox Smoothie-5Ok, it only took me until mid January to hop on the new year green smoothie bandwagon.  I was desperate!  It had been a long month of holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and to ring in the new year we spent five glorious days in Disney World.

Five. Days.

While it truly was the trip of a lifetime, especially for my kids, my body had pretty much had it by the time we got home.

Enter —–> Spinach and Apple Detox Smoothie.

Spinach Apple Detox Smoothie-7

I called on my favorite fitness guru Jen Widerstrom for a little guidance on this one. By the way, are you watching her on The Biggest Loser this season? So inspiring! And can we talk about the blubbering mess I become when listening to the contestants stories? Like, serious ugly cry.

Like I said, I turned to Jen for some help with this smoothie because let’s be honest.  Not all green smoothies are created equal.  They can be loaded with sugar, which kinda defeats the purpose, right?

Spinach Apple Detox SmoothieWell, this smoothie is just the right amount of sweet, tart, and has some awesome natural detoxifiers like cucumber and lemon. Just one glass and I already started to feel better.

FO REAL!

Spinach Apple Detox Smoothie-2Try it, you’ll see. Also, if you’re looking for more easy recipes that the whole family loves, check out my free 5 Days of Dinner meal plan! This is my way of doing the hard work of meal planning for you.

There’s no rule as to how often to drink this. But I imagine if you drink this a few times a week it will certainly help you feel a bit better! I make this and/or another green smoothie 3-4 times a week. It’s an easy way to get in some greens!

Sure! You could use Celery, zucchini, or jicima, but you really don’t taste the cucumber 🙂

I am making this tomorrow morning! Just picked up some more cucumbers and granny smith apples. I’ve never used Almond milk before, so this is definitely a first 🙂 Can’t wait. I also featured this in this week’s menu plan! Have a delicious week!

Tried this today and it was the best green smoothie I’ve ever had. Thank you for sharing the recipe! I left out the flax, but may add it next time along with a scoop of protein powder and a splash of vanilla extract to counter the chalkiness of the protein powder.

This has such a nice balance of flavors. Even though I don’t like cucumber, I loved it in this! Thanks so much for the recipe! I used frozen spinach in my Vitamix instead of the ice cubes and just needed a bit more almond milk to make up for the missing fluid. I’d also love to try adding some ginger to this sometime. I’ll definitely be making this again!

I used bottled water instead of milk and I added ginger, honey and cinnamon. (Just a dash of each) I also substituted the banana and added dates. I had some collagen that I had ordered from Vitauthority I added that as well. So much energy it was ahhmazing. Thank you for your tips. ☺️

I swapped the splash of lemon with a pinch of cinnamon. It was so good I put it in a wine glass, lit a candle and listened to soft jazz as I drank it. 🙂

There’s never gonna be the perfect time to go after your goals, make the change, take the leap or do that one scary thing you’ve been thinking about. Life will keep happening. There will always be a reason to not.⁣

⁣
How would that make you feel? Truly... I want you to take a second to think about how you would feel knowing that you and your family were actually excited about the next meal. So excited that they go back for seconds and request it again the next night. Feels pretty good, huh? ⁣

I love his story, the why behind the book and of course, the recipes!⁣

Jew-ish is the perfect way to describe how I grew up. Sure, I was raised Jewish, we celebrated all the big holidays and I had a Bat Mitzvah, but I never really built a strong connection with Judaism itself. ⁣
⁣
I’ve learned most everything I know about Judaism through having kids and learning alongside them. It’s been a beautiful journey for me and this book has inspired me to continue learning, celebrating and being proud. ✡️⁣
⁣
@jakecohen writes about making Shabbat and Jewish traditions whatever you want them to be without the pressure of making it perfect. He also teaches you how to make this challah! For me, food is what brings us all together and BOOM CLAP it doesn’t get more Jewish than this big ass challah! ⁣
