A delicious green smoothie made with green apple, spinach and lemon for a bright and flavorful breakfast or snack!

Ok, it only took me until mid January to hop on the new year green smoothie bandwagon. I was desperate! It had been a long month of holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and to ring in the new year we spent five glorious days in Disney World.
Five. Days.
While it truly was the trip of a lifetime, especially for my kids, my body had pretty much had it by the time we got home.
Enter —–> Spinach and Apple Detox Smoothie.
I called on my favorite fitness guru Jen Widerstrom for a little guidance on this one. By the way, are you watching her on The Biggest Loser this season? So inspiring! And can we talk about the blubbering mess I become when listening to the contestants stories? Like, serious ugly cry.
Like I said, I turned to Jen for some help with this smoothie because let’s be honest. Not all green smoothies are created equal. They can be loaded with sugar, which kinda defeats the purpose, right?
Well, this smoothie is just the right amount of sweet, tart, and has some awesome natural detoxifiers like cucumber and lemon. Just one glass and I already started to feel better.
FO REAL!
Try it, you’ll see. Also, if you’re looking for more easy recipes that the whole family loves, check out my free 5 Days of Dinner meal plan! This is my way of doing the hard work of meal planning for you.

Hi,
I have been using banana, low fat yoghurt, spinach and oats. Is this ok? Twice a day and one big meal at night
Laney Schwartz
If that works for you, then great!

Hello, Aren’t milk and lemon inherently opposing flavors? I come from Indian culture and we use Lemon in Milk to make cottage cheese. These opposing flavors can cause damage to the body in the long term.
Laney Schwartz
Hi Ria! There is no milk used in this recipe, only almond milk and have had no issues

I swapped the splash of lemon with a pinch of cinnamon. It was so good I put it in a wine glass, lit a candle and listened to soft jazz as I drank it. 🙂

This has such a nice balance of flavors. Even though I don’t like cucumber, I loved it in this! Thanks so much for the recipe! I used frozen spinach in my Vitamix instead of the ice cubes and just needed a bit more almond milk to make up for the missing fluid. I’d also love to try adding some ginger to this sometime. I’ll definitely be making this again!

I used bottled water instead of milk and I added ginger, honey and cinnamon. (Just a dash of each) I also substituted the banana and added dates. I had some collagen that I had ordered from Vitauthority I added that as well. So much energy it was ahhmazing. Thank you for your tips. ☺️

Loved your story I’m right here in Orlando and I work at WDW. Where all your dreams come true. 😁

how many ounces is a serving of this?

Tried this today and it was the best green smoothie I’ve ever had. Thank you for sharing the recipe! I left out the flax, but may add it next time along with a scoop of protein powder and a splash of vanilla extract to counter the chalkiness of the protein powder.

Just tried it! I am so tired of feeling terrible and sure do hope this helps. How often are you supposed to drink this??
Life is but a Dish
There’s no rule as to how often to drink this. But I imagine if you drink this a few times a week it will certainly help you feel a bit better! I make this and/or another green smoothie 3-4 times a week. It’s an easy way to get in some greens!
