All you need is your Instant Pot, water and 5 minutes to make a perfectly tender spaghetti squash at home. It really doesn’t get any easier than this! Plus, I include some of my favorite recipes for using spaghetti squash after you’ve cooked it, including my fave Spaghetti Squash Bake.
You know I’m all about easy recipes and this one is as easy as it gets!
Let’s watch how to make it
How to make Spaghetti Squash in the Instant Pot
Cooking spaghetti squash in the Instant Pot is actually quite simple. Much easier and faster than making it in the oven. Here’s how you do it.
- Take a medium sized spaghetti squash and cut in half, width wise.
- Scoop out the seeds using a spoon.
- Place squash in the Instant Pot on the steamer rack and go!
Cutting the squash this way makes for longer noodle strands, and cooking it in the pressure cooker really gets every inch of the squash out easily. Check out the full directions below, but that’s really it! I promise, it will change your spaghetti squash life.
How to cut Spaghetti Squash
Cutting a spaghetti squash is a big job which calls for a big knife. I like to use my 8 inch chefs knife and cutting it in half horizontally is MUCH easier than cutting it vertically.
NOTE: You can also cook the spaghetti squash whole, then cut and remove seeds after. Just make sure the squash can fit easily in your Instant Pot.
Spaghetti squash is a great pasta replacement and can be used in a variety of recipes! See below for a few of my favorites.
Recipes that use Spaghetti Squash
- Spaghetti Squash Casserole
- Cheesy Spaghetti Squash Zucchini Bake
- Mushroom & Kale Stuffed Spaghetti Squash Bowls

Description
Learn how to make a whole spaghetti squash at home in just 5 minutes using your Instant Pot. Spaghetti Squash is a perfect pasta replacement.
Ingredients
- 1 medium spaghetti squash
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Cut your spaghetti squash in half, width wise. Use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and discard.
- Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of the Instant Pot. Place the spaghetti squash in your Instant Pot (I place mine on top of the steamer rack). If it doesn’t fit you may trim the top and/or bottom.
- Close lid and make sure the valve is on sealing. Pressure cook on high for 5 minutes. Quick release and check with a fork to see if it’s done. Squash should easily scrape away from the sides. If not done, place back in for another 2-5 minutes. This all depends on how large your squash is. 5 minutes works for a small/medium sized squash.
Yes I did. I wonder if I over cooked it? It was very wet.
Sorry. I did not put in right email for my what next question. I cooked the spaghetti squash and am not sure what’s next. It seems wet and clumpy.
Hi Patty! Spaghetti squash can be used in many different ways. You can use it like a noddle and serve it with your favorite sauce or meat sauce, bake it in a casserole and more! But hmm, it shouldn’t be wet and clumpy. Did you break it apart with a fork?
Hi I tried this today and cooked it sufficiently. The problem is what is nest? It seems watery and clumpy. I’m not at all sure how spaghetti squash works.
