Every busy home cook needs a really solid go-to, foolproof side dish that goes with everything. Enter: Bone Broth Rice! Your new best friend for busy weeknights, weekend meal prep, or those nights when you stare into the fridge hoping dinner will magically make itself (spoiler: it won’t, but this rice almost does).

What’s the point of using bone broth?

Here’s the thing. Rice is boring unless you take charge. It has so much potential because it acts a base for any flavor you want! The magic of using bone broth instead of water is that it adds tons of flavor, taking your rice from meh to WOW!

Forget the days of making rice with water. I make this rice on the weekly in my house, and sometimes add even more flavor with garlic powder and turmeric.

Perfect for the Busy Home Cook

I get it. You’ve got soccer practice pickups, a Zoom call that should have been an email, and approximately 37 tabs open in your brain. This recipe? It’s the definition of set it and forget it. Just a few minutes of prep, and your stovetop takes it from there while you handle everything else.

Ingredients you need

four bowls of ingredients on a grey background
  • Jasmine rice – can also use Basmati but I find Jasmine is even fluffier
  • Low-sodium chicken bone broth – please use low sodium so you can control how much salt goes in
  • Ghee or butter – trust me on this
  • Salt – this is the best salt ever

How to make it

large pot with rice, broth and a pat of butter
Add everything to a pot.

Simmer then cover and poof! Rice is done.

You do you

  • No bone broth? No problem. Use regular chicken broth, veggie broth.
  • Make it your own: Toss in fresh herbs, a squeeze of lemon, or a sprinkle of parmesan.
  • Leftovers? Reheat with a splash of broth or water.
