6-Ingredient Sautéed Bell Peppers and Onions
Sautéed Bell Peppers and Onions are the ultimate quick side dish. In just one pan and about 10 minutes, you can create a colorful mix of tender bell peppers and sweet onions, lightly seasoned for maximum flavor. Serve them with tacos, on sandwiches, hot dogs, tossed with pasta, or alongside chicken, fish or steak.

This is one of those recipes that you’ll keep in your back pocket because it’s so versatile and literally takes just 10 minutes to make. These sautéed peppers and onions are perfect alongside grilled chicken, tucked into tacos, piled on a sandwich, or stirred into your favorite pasta. They’re quick, flexible, and just plain delish.
My Non-Negotiables for Sides
If I’m taking the time to make a side-dish, it’s gotta be…
- Super simple – Just six ingredients and one pan.
- Flavorful – Otherwise, what’s the point?
- Versatile – Serve them as a side dish, or add them to bowls, burritos, or even breakfast eggs!
If you’ve ever had peppers and onions for fajitas at your favorite Mexican spot, you know the magic that happens when these two vegetables hit a hot pan. This recipe gives you that same restaurant flavor at home with no special equipment required.

As a busy home cook, this is exactly the kind of easy, everyday recipe I love to keep in rotation. And if you’ve got extra veggies lying around like mushrooms, zucchini, even corn, you can toss those in too. There are no rules here. If you like them a bit crispier, cook them for less time. Like them softer? Keep it going!
