Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs
FINALLY. You don’t have to chase me down, or scroll back through my Instagram to find out how to make these Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs that will forever change your life. I mean that when I say it.
If you only buy an Instant Pot for one reason, and for one reason only, it’s for hard boiled eggs. Never again will you spend hours peeling eggs that crack and peel off half the egg with it!
It really is as simple as this.
Place the eggs in your instant pot on the steamer basket. Pour in 1 cup of water and cook on high pressure for 5 minutes.
Quick release and immediately place in an ice bath for 5 minutes.
Peel immediately or not! Either way, store in the fridge all week long! Trust me, you will never make hard boiled eggs another way ever again.

The easiest way to make hard boiled eggs. Takes just minutes and the peel comes right off!
Ingredients
- 12 eggs
- 1 cup water
- Ice
Instructions
- Place the steamer basket in your Instant Pot and carefully add the eggs.
- Pour in 1 cup of water. Make sure the valve is on sealing and cook on high pressure for 5 minutes. (Cook for 2-3 minutes for jammy or soft boiled eggs).
- Quick release the pressure and immediately place the eggs in an ice bath for 5 minutes. Peel eggs or not and store in the fridge for up to one week.
Notes
You can do as little as 1 egg or up to 24 if your instant pot is large enough! I have the 6 quart and 12 fit perfectly.
I have an instant pot duo and don’t have a manual setting so I used “pressure cook” and made sure it was on “high” for 5 minutes, quick released and ice bathed but the yolk never hardened 🙁 I think Im going to vent for 5 minutes next time before the ice bath vs quick release! Thanks for the recipe!
Oh thats so weird!
If some of my eggs are cracking in the instant pot, what am I doing wrong?
That happens to me sometimes.
