Delicious Mustard Dill Sauce
This homemade Mustard Dill Sauce is the perfect balance of tangy, creamy, and fresh, making it a perfect way to add flavor to just about anything! Once you try it, you’ll want to drizzle it on everything!
If you’re a fan of my tahini mustard dressing, get ready to meet your new favorite sauce with a little twist! This mustard dill sauce combines the tangy punch of whole-grain mustard with creamy tahini, creating a perfect balance of flavor that’s both bold and zesty. To round it out and balance the flavors even more, freshly chopped dill is added to create a fresh herb flavor that combines well with the mustard’s sharpness and the tahini’s richness.
What I love about this sauce is how it showcases my favorite way to cook as a busy home chef: using simple ingredients that, when combined, create flavors that pair well with so many things. This sauce is proof that you don’t need a long list of ingredients!
Whether you’re drizzling it over fish, chicken, veggies or even stirring it into grains, this mustard dill sauce is a great way to wow any dish with just a few spoonfuls! Just whisk together the sauce ingredients until smooth, then stir in fresh dill. You can use it as is or blend it for a smoother finish.
And don’t worry if you can’t find fresh dill, a quick swap for dried will work in a pinch! Just make sure to use a bit less (one tablespoon should work) since dried herbs are a bit more concentrated.
Ingredient Notes
- Whole Grain Mustard – Love the texture of this mustard.
- Tahini – Makes it super smooth.
- Salt – I recommend using kosher salt for the best flavor.
- White Balsamic Vinegar – Adds the perfect sweetness.
- Olive Oil – Brings it all together.
- Fresh Dill – Keeps it fresh.
Step By Step Instructions
Mix the base: In a medium bowl, whisk together the measured whole-grain mustard, tahini, salt, white balsamic vinegar, and olive oil until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
Add the dill: Stir in the finely chopped fresh dill, making sure it’s evenly distributed throughout the sauce.
Blend the sauce (OPTIONAL): If you’d like a smoother texture, blend the sauce in a food processor or blender until silky.
Serve and enjoy: Use the sauce immediately by drizzling it over fish, chicken, steak, or veggies. You can also stir it into rice or quinoa!
Serving Suggestions
When I said you can drizzle this sauce on everything, I meant it! Here are some of my favorite serving ideas that make the most of its tangy, fresh flavor!
Fish, Chicken or Steak: This mustard dill sauce is a perfect match for fish, chicken or meat. Whether you’re drizzling it over baked meatballs or using it as a dipping sauce, it adds just the right amount of zest!
Grains: Grains like quinoa, rice, and pasta love to soak up the bright, tangy notes of this sauce, turning simple sides into flavorful dishes.
Veggies: Adds a creamy and tangy layer that makes even the simplest roasted or grilled vegetables pop with flavor. It’s an easy way to make sure your veggies are never boring and my favorite way to use it!
Salads: A drizzle of mustard dill sauce over your favorite salad brings everything together with its balanced mix of tangy and herby flavor.
Storage Instructions
To keep your mustard sauce with dill fresh and flavorful, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will stay good for up to one week, but I recommend giving it a quick stir before each use, as the ingredients might naturally separate over time. If you’re planning to make it ahead of time, the flavors will actually deepen after a day or two, making it even more delicious when you’re ready to serve it. Freezing is not recommended.
