As an experienced home cook and busy mom, sometimes you need quick and nourishing options that keep you out of the drive-through, especially with such an active family! We are obsessed with all things wraps and we LOVE my Caesar Salad recipe, so having these Chicken Caesar Wraps with Avocado have been perfect for at home or on the go.
Shredded Chicken Caesar Wrap
Shredded chicken is the star ingredient in this recipe for a few reasons. First, it’s easy to make a batch of homemade shredded chicken ahead of time and use it on hand with other chicken recipes. Using chicken that’s shredded also makes it easier to eat as there aren’t large chunks of chicken that can fall out. It also absorbs the dressing really well, making each bite even more flavorful.
If you don’t want to make shredded chicken at home, you can use a rotisserie chicken or even canned chicken if that’s what you have on hand.
One of the best parts about making homemade chicken Caesar wraps is adding my homemade creamy Caesar dressing. It’s made with just eight simple pantry ingredients and can be whipped up in under 10 minutes, giving these wraps a delicious homemade touch that really makes a difference.
Serve them alone while on the go or with a variety of sides like roasted potatoes, quinoa salad, or fresh fruit salad!
Why You’ll Love These Chicken Caesar Wraps
- Easy meal prep: These wraps are incredibly easy to prepare, making them perfect for busy weeknights or last-minute meals.
- Convenient: The use of shredded chicken, either homemade or store-bought, cuts down on prep time and soaks up the dressing much better than diced chicken.
- On the go: These wraps are portable, making them an excellent option for lunches, road trips, or in-between kid activities.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Chopped Romaine Lettuce – Classic in Caesar salad, this lettuce provides a crunchy texture and fresh flavor that balances the rich and creamy elements of the wrap.
- Shredded Chicken – Tender and flavorful component that makes the wrap filling and satisfying.
- Grated Parmesan Cheese – Adds a salty, nutty flavor that enhances the overall taste of the wrap.
- Caesar Dressing – Brings a tangy and slightly garlicky flavor that ties all the ingredients together, adding moisture and richness.
- Flour Tortillas – Serve as the wrap’s base, holding all the ingredients together in a soft, pliable food vehicle that’s easy to eat.
- Sliced Avocado – Layers in a creamy texture and a rich, buttery taste.
How To Make Shredded Chicken Caesar Wraps With Avocado
Season the chicken: Add cold shredded chicken and lettuce to a large mixing bowl along with the grated parmesan cheese and Caesar dressing. Toss until the chicken is fully coated in the dressing and cheese.
Prepare the tortillas: If the tortillas aren’t pliable, warm them in the microwave for 15-20 seconds before laying them out on a large cutting board or clean surface.
Assemble the wraps: Evenly distribute the dressed lettuce and chicken mixture in the middle of the tortillas. Place sliced avocado on top of the chicken. Fold in opposite sides of the tortilla just like you would a burrito.
Slice and serve: Slice the wraps in half and serve with additional Caesar dressing for dipping. Enjoy!
Helpful Recipe Tips
- If you notice your tortillas can rip easily, warm them before assembling to make them more pliable and prevent tearing when rolling.
- Dress the chopped romaine lettuce lightly with Caesar dressing and taste it before adding it to the wraps.
- Do not add too much dressing, as this could make the lettuce and the tortilla soggy.
Flavor Variations and Substitutions
- For a traditional taste and a bit of crunchy texture, add small croutons to the salad and chicken mixture.
- Use whole wheat or spinach tortillas instead of flour ones to add a pop of color or a slight flavor contrast.
- Add crispy bacon bits or pancetta to introduce a salty, smoky crunch that pairs well with the rest of the ingredients.
- Add sun-dried tomatoes for a tangy, sweet element that adds a touch of acidity.
- Mix in some roasted red peppers for a sweet, smoky flavor and a soft, juicy texture.
- Include fresh spinach or arugula instead of romaine lettuce for a peppery bite.
How To Store
Storing: Wrap each piece tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and place them in an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For the best quality, keep the avocado slices separate and add them fresh when ready to eat to prevent browning.
Make ahead: Prepare the chicken, lettuce, and cheese mixture in advance and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, warm the tortillas, add filling, freshly sliced avocado, and any additional dressing to assemble the wraps quickly.
